Hājāt e ašliyah se murād woh chīze jinkī 'ām taur par insān ko zarūrat hotī he aur jinke baghair zindagī guzārne me bohot zyādah tangī aur taklīf mehsūs hotī he:
1. Rehne kā ghar
2. Pehenne ke liye kapre
3. Sawārī
4. 'Ilm e dīn kī kitābe
5. Apne peshe ke awzār.
Agar hum hājāt e ašliyah ka matlab par ghaur kare to hamāre gharo me bohot sī chīze aisī he jo hājāt e ašliyah me dākhil nahī to agar un chīzo kī qīmat sārhe bāwan (52.5) tole chāndī ke barābar pohoch gayī to qurbānī wājib hogī.

Hājāt e ašliyah are daily essentials for a person and without which life becomes very difficult and causes one grief:
1. a house to live in
2. clothes to wear
3. mode of transport
4. books to gain knowledge of religion
5. tools for one's profession.
If we were to pay attention to the meaning of daily essentials, we would find many things in our houses that do not fall under the category of 'daily essentials', so if those things reach the equivalent of 612 grams of silver, then qurbānī is wājib.
